During a freezing day in December of 1985,
the birth of my baby sister Meera, made the world come alive.
She had such a cute face and adorable curly hair,
and gave me running hugs with so much care.
She would sit outside and drink water with two hands;
We would often play games and get really tanned.
We would pretend to wrestle, and didn't care much about who won,
because it was all about just having some fun.
I saw her grow in many ways right from my eyes;
the end of her toddler years was tough to realize.
Meera's personality has been so warm and cool,
so I'd fake my dad's accent, and help her ditch school.
I'd say, "My daughter Meera has to miss class because she has bronchitis."
But in reality, she just had a severe case of senioritis.
She told me something that made me die;
she said, "Anand, I just saw the hottest guy!"
Her days of being a little kid have come to an end;
but she has become a really great friend.
She credits me with shaping her liberal views,
and will assist me, in causing conservatives to lose.
She has created happiness in my life from the start,
and so I love her with all my heart.
She has my mother's natural vocal ability,
but there is one special song that makes me most giddy.
Abstaining from mentioning it would be quite wrong,
so I will close with a line from the elephant song.
Skittamerinky dinky dink, skittamerinky do,
I love you.
The Yeti would like to thank Anand for his heartwarming trilogy of poems.
